New to running and new to hydration while running

Posted July 11th, 2012 by Brian Hock

When I set out to design the Simple Hydration Water Bottle it was completely based on my own running experience and use of various hydration bottles, belts and systems. So it was based on a running background of 30 plus years and one in which I completed hundreds of races from the 5K distance all the way up through Ironman triathlons. Therefore, I knew I had a bottle design that would work for an experienced runner.

Could the Simple Hydration Water Bottle work for a runner that was just beginning?

On July 2, 2012 I had my answer. This was the day that Sharon Stith sent me a message through the www.simplehydration.com web site. You see, Sharon, a 41 year old stay-at-home Mom, just started running this past March. She told me she started to run because her kids were in a new running group (Maddux Runs) at school. She had never run before and now runs 3 times a week.

Here’s the message Sharon sent:

“I just wanted to let you know how much I love my Simple Hydration bottle. I learned about the bottle from a mother at our kids’ school. She told me that her husband used this bottle while running and she was thinking of getting one for herself. I hated carrying a water bottle so I was leaning towards buying a water belt but felt for my level of running (beginner), that was overkill. I was skeptical about a bottle that slid into my shorts so I put a regular bottle in my shorts and thought it didn’t feel too bad and a bottle that was shaped correctly would probably work out pretty well. I decided to try your bottle and will say I love it. I don’t run without it and have recommended it to several other people; especially ones that carry a bottle in their hand. Great, simple idea!”

I love to get feedback but this message just hit the right spot. It’s very satisfying to know that the Simple Hydration Water Bottle is helping new runners like Sharon stay hydrated on their runs.

Oh, and it looks like she’s now got the running bug. In the four months she’s been running she’s completed the Cincinnati Flying Pig 5K (35:09) and the Forest Hills 5K (34:54). She also told me she’s shooting to run the Thanksgiving Day 10K Race later this year. Good luck and continued success to Sharon and all of those new runners to our sport.

Note: Please send us your experience with the Simple Hydration Bottle. Think of your feedback as the hydration to our business. It keeps us going and helps us improve with each step.
