We asked our 2017 Simple Hydration Run Team members a variety of running-related questions. In this fifth post we share their favorite run quote.
What is your favorite run quote?
“Run like you stole something.”
I used to be a nationally competitive figure skater and once before a competition I got a fortune cookie that read, “Be calm and confident in your pursuit of the finest things.” I think for an athlete, that is a perfect quote.
“Chase that dream!”
“When you start feeling bad, look up and look around!” A seasoned marathoner in my local club shared this advice. I hear her voice in my head saying that around mile 20 when I sometimes want to quit! You get so focused on the road in front of you.
“You got this!”
“Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up.” – Dean Karnazes
Robin Zehnder Muskopf
“I know we’ve made it this far, kid.”
“Stronger, Faster, Relax” my coach told me those 3 words before Boston and it was huge for me. Used it when I needed to dig deep and it truly worked. Repeated it over and over.
I have a mantra that I use in races – “I can do anything for one mile.” Whenever I feel myself fading, I say that to myself to urge myself to tolerate the pain for just a little while longer.
Jacqueline Ann C. Santos
“Running is beautiful pain.”
When I trained for my first marathon, I really clung to “She believed she could, so she did.” I also really like “Run happy” and “run the mile you are in.” Truth is, I am a junkie, and have LOTS of favorites.
“Don’t stop when you are tired, stop when you are done.”
Reman Chim Tat Wee
Alberto Gomez Monteseguro -
“If you can dream, you can do it.”
Hafisz Nosly Wazid
“Go for it!”
“Smooth and Strong.” It’s something I repeat to myself when trying to keep my form together and stay on pace.
“Because we’re loving every wonderful, horrible minute of this!”
