The second Simple Hydration Run Team member of 2016 to answer 15 Questions is Adam Chapman from Boulder, Colorado.

1.) What is your favorite color?

Sunset Orange

2.) What is your favorite song right now?

“Strength of the Mind” by Killswitch Engage

3.) What is your favorite book?

That’s based on the assumption I can read!

4.) What is your favorite movie?

The Shawshank Redemption

5.) What is your favorite snack food?

Bananas

6.) What is your favorite word?

Perspective

7.) What runner inspires you?

I don’t typically find inspiration in a single runner, but I do find it inspiring to watch people from different backgrounds, those who have professional careers outside running, and families compete at an elite level in running.

8.) What is your favorite workout?
There’s a workout we do up the ridge on Mt. Sanitas here in Boulder, Colorado. It involves a 3 minute tempo up/2 minute recovery down along the ridge, which is around 1.2 miles with an average grade of 20%. If you summit before the group, you get to partake in the fun even more until everyone makes it to the top. It’s seriously the worst.

9.) What is your favorite running shoe?

I have yet to find my favorite running shoe, but I’ve recently liked the line of shoes from Salomon.

10.) What is your favorite race medal or award?

In 2015 the group I run with, Rocky Mountain Runners, decided to put on a 24-hour event around a local reservoir, “for fun.” The entry “fee” was $0.25 (in which I rightfully paid in pennies) and a hand made award. After the event, we all were gifted a random award, which some included adapted awards from such races as Hardrock 100.

11.) What race would you highly recommend?

There are a lot of great races offered in Colorado, but I’d recommend any race put on by either Mad Moose Events or Gnar Runners. The race directors truly put on outstanding races of all distances.

12.) Have you ever bonked in a race?
I’ve never bonked in a race, but I have had some pretty epic bonks on training runs.

13.) How many miles have you covered without walking during a run or race?
That’s hard to say since most of the long runs I do are on trails, but maybe 15-20 miles.

14.) Do you prefer running in the summer or winter?

Summer!! Getting up in the high country in Colorado is something everyone should experience!

15.) What is a fun fact about you?

I grew up bowling. In the Midwest it’s a pretty big deal, but as I tell people, I’ve since retired. I occasionally come out of retirement when friends want to go bowling for fun. Let’s just say they are surprised. [Simple Hydration Note: We imagine Adam's early bowling went something like the posted video clip.]

I am torn between blue and green. They remind me of summer. Green trees and grass and blue water.

Cherry Festival of Races 15k (and now they have a half marathon). Traverse City is absolutely beautiful in the summer. This race goes up one side of the penninsula of Grand Traverse Bay and then crosses over wine vineyards and then back down the other half of the peninsula before dipping you out along the parade route for the huge festival. You feel like an elite and there are cherries and delicious treats waiting at the end.

I hate to respond to this for fear of jinxing myself, but not yet. However, I no longer run 5k’s because I go a bit crazy and about kill myself!

13.) How many miles have you covered without walking during a run or race?

I don’t love humidity but I would much rather run in warmer weather. Laying up drives me nuts.

I am terrible at throwing and catching a ball, but I have taught Tom Brady’s son for a football class. My husband and I run sports classes in Central Park in the spring and fall and he has been in our classes for a few years now. Just don’t let him know my secret. ;)
